The LR541 can be used as a gravity trainer or a fixed position trainer by operating the lock lever.  Fixed Mode acts like a traditional trainer where the trainer stays in the same position and the rear roller compresses the tire to achieve resistance.  This is good for power training.  Gravity mode supports the bicycle frame by the axle allowing the bike to move up and down.  Your body weight dictates contact with the roller naturally so no adjustment is needed no matter what bike or tire you use.
